I am so tired of rich white fascists.
So, a question:
What programing languages and operating systems have the most diverse folks "in charge"? Who are the most inclusive? Who as at least as many women as men? What projects are steered by a full chorus of LGBTQIA+ folks? Where are BIPOC putting their energy and power?
'Cause every time we complain about a fash we should lift up the work they fight against two times.
Boots welcome.
people keep talking about things like "Bazzite" and "CachyOS" "AerynOS" and it's all just so unserious. you either use Normal Linux (Fedora or Debian) or Pervert Linux (Arch/Gentoo/NixOS). it's very easy

Funk is coming back. I repeat The Funk is Returning.
I didn't really notice it, just seemed like a musical style or a reference, but so many songs have that funky sound now, and every little band has some guy with the saxophone or other brass instrument instead of just electric guitars.
The thing about a funk band is there is *no upper limit* to the number of brass players you can add. The bands of the 70s just kept expanding in size until they were orchestras.
Will it happen again?

It's time again for #WebKitIgaliaPeriodicals! #WIP issue 75 is now out! https://blogs.igalia.com/webkit/blog/2026/wip-75/
After such a packed edition last week, we can relax with an even more packed one this week! The team has been moving full steam ahead with the Layer-Based SVG Engine, and graphics improvements in general, but we also had a handful of other updates, such as SDK updates, a new WebsitePolicies API, and more.
@_elena Aw thanks! It's a @heyheymomo original.
@box464 @heyheymomo sooo cute! immediate follow 😍
My guess is that since Churchill has long syllables, the middle consonant does not double.
I'll leave it to a true linguist major though.
@syferdet That is interesting. Thanks.

Former US Air Force Drone Technician Cian Westmoreland exposes the Kill Cloud: a distributed socio-technical architecture that fuses ubiquitous sensing, artificial intelligence, and autonomous weapons into a planetary apparatus of force.
Born on this day: Phil McGraw, television’s folksy fake psychologist whose weird presence, bestselling books, and unfortunately long‑running daytime show made him a cultural fixture, blending bad advice, fake‑psychology, and media savvy into one of modern TV’s most sadly recognizable personalities.
Doctors’ AI scribes get names of drugs and diagnoses wrong, NHS watchdog warns
who could have fucking predicted this at length the second it was announced
@davidgerard I think it is a variant of the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect. You forget that all the mistakes you see AI make apply to /everything/ it does. Although management may just be too stupid to have recognised the mistakes....

Follow up question for the men.
Did you learn anything from the link in the toot above?
I came across this page from 2002. This is about how to encourage women in the Linux community.
So Ladies how much did the community and FOSS in general take the lesson? Are we encouraged?

Hey everyone,
@casey and @rania40 had the honour of speaking to two families from Gaza today and we’d like to welcome them to Gaza Verified.
They are:
• klj (@kljh)
• Ahmed (@Ahmednn)
Please give them a warm welcome to Mastodon and to the fediverse, follow their accounts, and donate to their fundraisers if you can (and please share this so others can do the same).
Also, remember that you can find all our families who have fundraisers listed at the following page, ordered by those who have received the least in donations over the last week (on a rolling basis):
https://gaza-verified.org/donate/
Thank you for making Mastodon and the fediverse a safe space for our friends in Gaza and for your support.

CC: @matthew@mstdn.mad-gamer.com again, reminder that snac uses a different format for replies. it does not sue the @ mentioning system for replies to the user in question (something all fedi clients assume, I guess) but puts the user in the metadata in stead. nevertheless it should still reach them
For.. reasons.. I am making a wealth inequality playlist. I posted an earlier version about 10 hours ago. This is the latest version reflecting everyone's feedback. Remember, I want songs that aren't TOO aggro and could be background-ish at an event, catchy, topical, without making themselves the center of attention. Here's what I have for V2 of the playlist. Please parse this list and suggest along these lines, if you like.

@codinghorror Song of the South by Alabama? It even ends with the family coming out of poverty thanks to a New Deal program.
Well, somebody told us Wall Street fell
But we were so poor that we couldn't tell
Cotton was short, and the weeds were tall
But Mr. Roosevelt a-gonna save us all
Well, momma got sick, and daddy got down
The county got the farm, and they moved to town
Poppa got a job with the TVA
We bought a washin' machine and then a Chevrolet
Today I submitted a new version of #Vernissage to Apple for review, with a few small fixes for iOS 27.
I’m already working on the next update, bringing new timelines to the app, similar to what we have on the web. I’ve merged the Private and Timelines tabs into one and added a new Explore section, where you’ll be able to browse photos by metadata. On iOS, ALT text generation will also use an on-device model, so everything will be handled locally.
All of this is planned to arrive with iOS 27.
@mczachurski only IOS app needs Android also
Sorry, the app encountered an unexpected error
